The poem’s booklet contains significant material on the subject of the Holocaust. Forty-four poems, written in Judeo-Spanish between 1941-1955, describe the horrors of the deportations, the deep sense of despair over seeing the lost communities devoid of their people, their language, their way of life. Only 12 poems were previously published by Isaac Jack Levy (1989) and Shmuel Refael (2008).

This article examines unpublished poems written before, during and after the Nazi Occupation. One of the fundamental issues that led to a confrontation between the inquisitorial center and the periphery was the control of the relationship between the Jewish and Catholic communities within the Papal State. The most complex of these cases of coexistence was that of the so-called “furtive or clandestine” baptisms of Jewish children, carried out both outside and inside the ghettos. The perspective chosen to observe this historical phenomenon was that of the inquisitorial sources, preserved in the archive of the Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede. The case of Serena Levi is the prologue and the point of arrival of our study, with the hypothesis of an identification that will allow us to invoke one of the most important figures of the Italian Risorgimento.
[/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_text admin_label=”Amelia” _builder_version=”3.27.4″ custom_margin=”-30px|||” custom_padding=”0px|||”]

Amélia Ricon-Ferraz (Museum “Maximiliano Lemos” of History of Medicine – Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto) – The life and work of Ribeiro Sanches. Born in a place and time marked by the absence of freedom of expression, he followed his chosen path to obtain the most qualified medical education and to better serve others. He was one of Hermann Boerhaave’s (1668-1738) favourite disciples and the doctor of the Empress of Russia and her armies. He became a reference point as a doctor, syphilographer, hygienist and reformer of medical education, even though he also left his mark on several other areas. He belonged to the most prestigious scientific societies in Europe and left a vast and specialised scientific oeuvre. Among his monographs, the Tratado da conservação da saúde dos povos clearly shows his pioneering role in political and social hygiene. The time period and the man that emerges throughout these writings are reasons why the Tratado should be remembered and the memory of its author kept alive.
[/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_text admin_label=”Parte II: Crónicas e entrevistas” _builder_version=”4.4.2″ custom_padding=”0px|||” hover_enabled=”0″]

Part II: Chronicles and interviews

Ana M.
